Ingredients for Heart Pancake:
- 1 ½ cup of all purpose Flour
- 2 tablespoon Sugar
- 1 ¼ cup Milk
- Two pinches of Salt
- 2 tablespoon Butter
- 1 teaspoon Baking powder
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla essence
- Red/ Pink Food color (optional)
- 1 egg
- Heart shaped cookie cutter for making the Heart shapes
- Chocolate sauce/melted chocolate/ maple syrup for garnishing (optional)
Preparation of Heart Pancakes:
Pancake Batter:
- Take a large bowl and start adding all the dry ingredients except sugar i.e. add all purpose Flour (Maida), Salt and Baking powder.
- Mix all the dry ingredients nicely and keep this bowl aside.
- Take another bowl and start adding your wet ingredients (and to this bowl we will also add sugar). Start by first adding milk. Then add the melted Butter and Vanilla essence.
- Next we will add sugar in the bowl.
- Next, we will break the egg and add it to the bowl.
- Now with the help of a whisk or beater, we will mix all the wet ingredients.
- Make sure that all the ingredients are well combined and the sugar is dissolved completely.
- Now take the dry ingredients bowl and make a hole in the center of the bowl with the help of your hand or a spoon by separating the dry ingredients towards the side.
- Then slowly start adding your wet ingredients mixture little by little into the center hole of the dry ingredients bowl.
- Now start mixing the wet and dry ingredients slowly and in small proportions.
- Repeat steps 9 and 10 until all the wet and dry ingredients are well mixed.
- Keep this pancake batter aside for 4-5 min.
Dividing the Pancake Batter:
- Now we will take the pancake batter and divide it in half to use half of the batter for the plain pancakes and the remaining half for the colored pancakes. (You can divide the batter in more halves if you desire to make more than 1 colored pancake or even keep the batter as it is if you prefer to make plain pancakes).
Preparing the Plain Pancakes:
- Turn on the gas flame on low and place a non-stick pan or tawa over the flame.
- Let the pan or tawa heat for 2-3 minutes
- Once the pan is heated up nicely, take one half of the batter mixture(i.e. plain) and with the help of a ladle or any spoon pour the plain pancake batter on the pan in a circular motion to get a circular shape. (Note: Make sure that the flame of the gas is kept on low flame).
- Let the pancake cook for 2-3 mins.
- Once the bubbles start to appear over the batter and the edges of the batter and base turn brown in color, with the help of a spatula flip the pancake over to the other side.
- Now let the other side also cook for 2-3 mins.
- Once the base starts to turn brown and the pancake is nicely cooked from both the sides, remove the cooked pancake out on a plate or any serving dish.
- Repeat steps 3 to 7 for all the remaining batter of the plain pancakes.
- Turn off the gas flame and place all your prepared plain pancakes aside on a plate.
Preparing the Colored Pancakes:
- Take the other half of the pancake batter bowl which we will use for colored pancakes and add 2-3 drops of food color in it. (We have used rose red color but you can use any color of your choice).
- Mix the food color well with the pancake batter till we get the desired color. (Note: Do not add excess food color).
- Turn on the gas flame on low and place the same pan over the flame that we used to make our plain pancakes and let it heat for 2-3 mins.
- Once the pan is heated up nicely, take the colored batter pancake mixture and with the help of a ladle or any spoon pour the colored pancake batter on the pan in a circular motion to get a circular shape. (Note: Make sure that the flame of the gas is kept on low flame).
- Let the pancake cook for 2-3 mins.
- Once the bubbles start to appear over the batter and the edges of the batter and base turn brown in color, with the help of a spatula flip the pancake over to the other side.
- Let the pancake cook for 2-3 mins.
- Once the base starts to turn brown and the pancake is nicely cooked from both the sides, remove the cooked pancake out on a plate or any serving dish.
- Repeat steps 4 to 8 for all the remaining batter of the colored pancakes.
- Turn off the gas flame and place all your prepared colored pancakes aside on a plate.
Final Cooking of the Heart Shaped Pancakes
- One all the plain and colored pancakes are prepared and taken out on a plate we will start making heart shaped pancakes. For this we will need a heart shaped cookie cutter.
- Take one prepared pancake (plain or colored) and place the heart shaped cookie cutter at the center of the pancake and press it inside the pancake to get the heart shape.
- Once the heart is cut from the pancake keep the pancake aside on one plate and the heart shape pancake aside in a different plate.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 for all the plain and colored pancakes.
- Once all the pancakes are cut in heart shapes we will start to mismatch them.
- For this , we will take a plain pancake and a colored heart shaped pancake. We will place the colored heart shaped pancake in the plain pancake and and vice versa for the colored pancake(i.e. plain heart shaped pancake will be placed in the colored pancake).
- Once we have mismatched all our pancakes they are ready to be served.
- We will place all the pancakes on a serving plate and garnish our pancakes with chocolate sauce or melted chocolate or maple syrup (Or any other sauce as per your choice).
- Our Heart Shaped Pancakes are ready and can be served.
- Serve the pancakes when they are hot.
